“Angennes 2” is part of the “Angennes” series.
“Angennes 2” was inspired by a summer walk in the Rambouillet Forest, near the Angennes rocks in Poigny-la-Forêt, in the Yvelines.
I wanted to capture the unique atmosphere of this place where the mineral and the vegetal meet. Through a semi-abstract approach, the landscape is suggested rather than depicted. The shapes and colours leave room for the imagination and personal interpretation.
The warm tones evoke ferns scorched by the sun, whilst the greens recall the pines, birches and oaks that populate the forest. A few lighter areas suggest the presence of a small river running through this landscape, ‘La Guesle’.
Created using acrylics and marble powder, the work has a rich, textured quality. The crackling effect echoes the sandstone rocks of Angennes, whose striking forms bear witness to the fragility of time and erosion.
With “Angennes 2”, I sought to capture the emotion of a walk in the heart of nature. A moment of calm, far from the hustle and bustle of city life, conducive to contemplation and daydreaming.
